Designing the future of Healthcare

Waco VA's prominent five-story "Building 1" had sat empty for several years. This project's scope was to renovate the existing building into a modern and fully accessible multi-story space to consolidate many ambulatory care functions into a central location at the front of the campus.

 Waco, TX

Evaluation of the MRI safety of the JPS Hospital and devise a solution to create a safer MRI environment while improving patient and staff workflow. Collaborating with Perkins & Will, another healthcare design architect, the redesigned and organized MRI suite with a new separate Nuclear medicine suite provides patients with an improved experience and a higher throughput for the Hospital. The design focused on contemporary healthcare design principles within a highly constricted existing space while ensuring compliance with all requirements for medical equipment manufacturers local and state regulations. 

Fort Worth, TX

This project included expanding the Emergency Department, Mental Health, VA Police, Emergency Preparedness, and MAS at the Dallas VA Medical Center. It was accomplished by expanding the existing facility to the north in several phases to keep the current ED in operation.

Dallas, TX

This building provides five floors of physician offices perched atop four parking levels with convenient connections to the adjacent Hospital and Health Services Center. The final shell space was filled with an ambulatory surgery center.

 Arlington, TX

This nearly 50,000-sf expansion focused on Fine Arts, Athletics, and CTE. The Fine Arts spaces include new high school band, orchestra, and choir rooms, as well as practice spaces and art rooms. Athletics expansion components include a New Competition Gym, Field House, and Locker Rooms for all sports. CTE Spaces include a Robotics Makerspace, Teaching Lab, Computer Graphics, and CAD Labs. 

Benbrook, TX

In this project, PDA provided structural engineering for a complete re-roof, a tornado storm shelter addition, and the replacement of numerous windows for waterproofing and energy efficiency. PDA also provided structural engineering services for a 40,000-square-foot classroom addition with collaboration space, a 10,000-square-foot expansion and renovation of the kitchen and Cafeteria kitchen, and a new secure entry and covered drop-off pick-up.  

Arlington, TX

The Student Affairs Department is one of the largest bodies within the system. This project included relocating the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs and his entire staff to the same location as the Student Leadership on campus in the Student Union building. The project started as an overall renovation of 24,000 SF of interior space but grew to include another 6,000 SF of new construction to accommodate the Career Center. The Career Development Center hosts visiting companies for student interview fairs and office spaces for staff to prepare students for interviews and resume preparation.

Arlington, TX

The original space of approximately 4,450 square feet was part of the bookstore and a storage area. Now, it provides office space for approximately 24 people in the Advising and Counseling Department, utilizing transparent glass cubicles. Demountable walls seal off space for a small conference room for eight people, a Huddle room for four people, and 8 Focus rooms for private consultation between a counselor or advisor and a student. Also included is a new breakroom with a mini kitchen, a reception area, and an onboard station for students who are also part of the program.

Hurst, TX

This project included renovating the third-floor Commissioner's Suite, including new finishes (carpet, paint, and ceiling tiles) and LED Lighting, relocating and expanding a break room, and adding a Fitness Room with new restrooms and showers. A Juvenile Services Office Suite, including conference and multi-purpose rooms, was finished out in the second-floor shell space.

Arlington, TX

This new three-story Sub-Courthouse replaced their existing smaller facility. The project housed a tax office, courtroom, Justice of Peace, Constable’s Office, County Clerk, and Commissioner’s office. It also included remodeling the adjacent Annex Building, which houses the Community Services and Correctional Division, Juvenile Services, and Public Health.

Lake Worth, TX

This project was a renovation of the existing Silver Creek Fire Station in Parker County. The facility needed more dormitory and storage space, an interior refresh, additional space for EMT services, and expanded kitchen and breakroom areas.

Azle, TX

This project included providing services for an addition to accommodate Alliance For Children, the Arlington Police Department, and the Texas Department of Family Protective Services. Services for this project included a two-story addition totaling 22,000 SF with group meeting rooms for families, tightly sound-controlled victim interview and monitoring rooms for forensic interviews, family and group meeting, and interview rooms, a meeting and conference space for private and public training, and a space for emergency community outreach storage.

Arlington, TX

This project involved converting an abandoned UA movie theater into a new facility, which includes a Worship Center with seating for 500, a nursery, a full range of children’s classrooms, and a Youth Hall.

White Settlement, TX

The Ash Creek Baptist Church is a growing church in Azle, Texas, reaching out to the community's youth. The project features a 250-seat Worship Space, a Youth Commons Area, 12 classrooms, and new parking.
